Player Death Kick Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

Where do I find the config file?
The config file is located in your .minecraft/config folder. Open it with any text editor to adjust all mod settings.
How do I change the message players see when they die and get kicked?
Edit the disconnectMessage setting in the config file. Use %death% as a placeholder to show the cause of death (e.g., "You were killed by a creeper and removed from the server").
Can I make it so admins don't get kicked when they die?
Yes, set exemptAdminPlayers to true in the config file. This exempts any player with OP status or cheat access from being kicked on death.
How do I turn off the death cause in the disconnect message?
Set addDeathCauseToMessage to false in the config file. The %death% placeholder will no longer be replaced, so you can use a simple message instead.
Can other players see when someone gets kicked for dying?
If broadcastKickToServer is enabled (the default), all online players will receive a message showing who was kicked. Set it to false if you want to hide eliminations.
Does this mod work on single-player worlds?
The mod is designed for multiplayer servers, but it will function in single-player; however, kicking yourself has limited practical use in that context.
What happens if a player dies in a protected area or from a mod block?
The mod will still kick the player regardless of the death cause. The death cause will be logged in the disconnect message if that setting is enabled.
Can I exempt specific players without giving them admin?
The mod only supports exempting players with OP status or cheat access; there is no whitelist for individual non-admin players.
Does the mod affect respawn mechanics or just remove players?
The mod only removes players from the server upon death—it does not modify respawn points or allow players to rejoin after being kicked.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues on my server?
The mod is lightweight and only triggers on player death events, so it should have minimal impact on server performance.
