Player Corpses Datapack Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to do anything to start using this mod or does it work automatically?
The mod works automatically—when you die, a corpse spawns at your death location with all your items. You'll see a chat message with coordinates, and you can use /trigger corpse_finder to see all corpse locations on a menu.
How do I get my items back from my corpse?
Travel to your death location, sneak near the corpse (or right-click it, depending on your settings), and your items will return to their original inventory slots. You can change the interaction method in /trigger config.
What happens if I die in lava or the void?
Your corpse floats safely above lava and the void, keeping your items protected from damage and despawning. You can still recover them normally once you reach the location.
Can other players steal my corpse or move it?
You can enable body locking in the settings so only you can collect items from your corpse. The body is also protected from being pushed by pistons or fishing rods by default.
How long does a corpse stay before disappearing?
By default, corpses don't despawn naturally, but you can set a custom timer in /trigger config if you want corpses to disappear after a certain amount of time.
What's the zombie mode and how do I enable it?
Zombie mode replaces your corpse with a zombie wearing your head that holds your items—you must defeat it to recover your gear. Enable this in /trigger config if you want an extra challenge.
Will my items go back into the exact same slots they were in?
Yes, the mod's smart inventory sorting automatically returns all items to their original slots, so your inventory is restored exactly as it was before you died.
Do the gore effects (particles and sounds) happen automatically or do I need to enable them?
Gore effects are optional and can be toggled on or off in /trigger config. When enabled, you'll see bone particles and hear sounds when you die.
Can I see all my corpses at once or just the closest one?
Use /trigger corpse_finder to open a menu showing the locations of all currently loaded corpses in your world, making it easy to track multiple deaths.
What if I die far away and can't find my corpse—will my items be lost?
No, your items are safe on the corpse indefinitely (unless you set a despawn timer). The chat coordinates and /trigger corpse_finder menu will help you locate it, even if it's far away.
