Configure Which Blocks Plants Can or Cannot Grow On

Finding the Config File

Open your config folder and locate the file named placeable-common.toml. This file controls where plants can be placed.

Understanding the Blacklists

Two settings control plant placement:

  • placement_blacklist: Blocks where you cannot place plants by hand or through world generation
  • worldgen_blacklist: Blocks where plants will not spawn naturally when your world generates (tree leaves are blocked by default)

Editing the File

1. Open placeable-common.toml in a text editor

2. Find the blacklist sections

3. Add or remove block names to customize behavior

4. Save the file

5. Restart your game or reload chunks for changes to take effect

Example Use Cases

  • Prevent plants from growing on valuable blocks like ores
  • Allow plants on normally-blacklisted blocks for creative builds
  • Stop world generation from placing plants in specific biomes or on certain materials
