Placeable Plants Expanded Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I place flowers on stone?
Hold a flower block in your hand and right-click on any stone, brick, or other hard block. The flower will place on top of that block just like it would on dirt, without needing soil underneath.
Can I place crops like wheat and potatoes on non-soil blocks?
No, farm crops and tree saplings are excluded from this mod and still require dirt or farmland to grow. Only decorative plants like flowers, grass, and bushes can be placed on hard blocks.
Why are plants growing all over my new world in weird places?
This is the mod's wild world generation feature—it automatically places plants on cliffs, deserts, beaches, and icy areas during world creation to make terrain look more natural and overgrown. You can disable this by editing the worldgen_blacklist in your config file.
How do I stop plants from growing on certain blocks?
Open the placeable-common.toml file in your config folder and add block names to either placement_blacklist (blocks you can't place plants on by hand) or worldgen_blacklist (blocks where plants won't spawn naturally). Tree leaves are blocked by default in world generation.
Does this mod work with plants from other mods?
Yes, the mod supports plant blocks from both the base game and other installed mods, so you can place decorative plants from mod packs on hard blocks too.
Can I place plants on sand and wood blocks?
Yes, sand and wood blocks are not blacklisted by default, so you can place flowers and grass on them. If you want to prevent this, add those blocks to the placement_blacklist in your config.
Will this mod affect my farm or tree farm?
No, the mod keeps normal growth rules for crops and saplings, so your farms will work exactly as they did before—they still need proper soil or farmland to grow.
How do I make overgrown ruins look good?
Place flowers, grass, and bushes on your stone bricks, netherrack, or other structure blocks by right-clicking with them in hand. Mix different plant types and colors across the surface for a natural, weathered appearance.
Does this mod cause lag or performance issues?
The mod should have minimal performance impact, but if you notice slowdowns, try reducing plants in world generation by adding common blocks to the worldgen_blacklist in your config file.
Can I place plants on nether blocks like netherrack and soul sand?
Yes, nether blocks are not blacklisted by default, so you can place decorative plants on them. This is great for creating overgrown nether structures and ruined portals.
