Using Retrieve Mode to Pump Fluids Out of Tanks and Machines

Why Retrieve Mode Helps With Fluids

Fluid handling in Pipez normally relies on a source pipe extracting and pushing fluid. PipezRetriever adds Retrieve mode so a single pipe can pull fluid directly from a connected tank, machine output, or fluid storage block. This is handy when you want a pump-like setup without configuring a separate extractor.

Step-by-Step Setup

1. Place a fluid pipe against the tank or machine you want to drain.

2. Right-click the pipe with the wrench to open its GUI.

3. Change the pipe mode to Retrieve.

4. Connect the rest of the fluid pipe network to your destination tank or machine input.

5. Configure the destination face so the fluid is inserted there.

Things to Watch For

  • Fluid pipes only connect to blocks that actually store or accept the fluid type you are moving; a mismatched tank will not receive anything.
  • Retrieve mode still obeys the pipe's transfer rate, so a single pipe may not keep up with very fast machines — add parallel pipes if throughput matters.
  • If nothing moves, check that the source block is not locked behind a redstone signal or a machine that only outputs on certain conditions.
  • Use the filter to restrict which fluids are pulled when a tank holds a mix.
