PipezRetriever Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get started with Retrieve Mode?
Place a Pipez pipe, open its configuration screen, and switch the mode from the default to Retrieve. Then use the wrench or config tool to select which connected inventory the pipe should pull from.
What's the difference between Retrieve Mode and the normal Pipez mode?
Normal Pipez pipes push items out of the inventory they're attached to, while Retrieve Mode reverses this and pulls items from the connected inventory into the pipe network. You choose the direction by setting the mode on each pipe connection.
Why isn't my pipe pulling anything from the chest?
Check that the pipe side facing the chest is set to Retrieve mode and not Extract or None, and confirm the chest actually contains the item you're filtering for. Also make sure the destination side is
configured to accept the item.
configured to accept the item. Can Retrieve Mode handle fluids and energy too, or just items?
Retrieve Mode works with items, fluids, and energy, so you can pull any of these from connected tanks, machines, generators, or batteries. Just make sure you're using the correct pipe type for the resource you want to move.
How do I stop a pipe from pulling everything out of a chest?
Add a filter to the Retrieve side and whitelist only the items you want pulled. Without a filter, the pipe will try to pull whatever it can, which can drain your storage fast.
Does Retrieve Mode work with filters and redstone control?
Yes, Retrieve Mode respects Pipez filters and redstone settings just like the standard modes. You can gate retrieval behind a redstone signal or restrict it to specific items with a filter.
Can I pull from multiple chests at once with one pipe network?
Yes, as long as each connection is set to Retrieve mode and points at a valid inventory. The pipe will pull from all
configured sources according to its filter and priority settings.
configured sources according to its filter and priority settings. Why is my Retrieve pipe pulling items back into the chest it came from?
This usually happens when the destination side is also set to Retrieve or when the pipe network loops back on itself. Set the receiving end to Insert or the appropriate input mode so items have somewhere to go.
Does Retrieve Mode work with other mods' inventories and machines?
Retrieve Mode works with any inventory that Pipez itself can interact with, including most modded chests, tanks, and machines. If a block doesn't expose a standard inventory capability, the pipe won't be able to pull from it.
Will using Retrieve Mode on a lot of pipes cause lag?
Retrieve Mode uses the same tick logic as normal Pipez pipes, so performance depends mostly on how many pipes and connections you have active. Keeping filters tight and avoiding unnecessary loops helps reduce load on large networks.
