How to Pull Items From a Chest Using Retrieve Mode in PipezRetriever
Setting the Pipe to Retrieve Mode
Place a Pipez item pipe so it touches the inventory you want to pull from (for example, a chest full of mined ores). Right-click the pipe with the Pipez wrench to open its configuration screen. In the mode selector, switch the pipe from the default Extract/Insert behavior to Retrieve. Retrieve mode makes the pipe actively pull items out of the connected inventory rather than waiting for another pipe to push them.
Choosing What to Pull and Where It Goes
With the pipe still open in the config screen, use the filter slots to whitelist the items you want retrieved. Leave the filter empty to retrieve everything. Set the destination by connecting the same pipe network to the target inventory — Retrieve mode sends pulled items along the network to wherever the pipe is
configured to output. If you have multiple destinations, use the per-side settings to control which face receives the items.
Practical Tips
- Retrieve mode respects the same speed, stack size, and redstone-control options as normal Pipez pipes, so tune the transfer rate in the same screen.
- Use a wrench to rotate or reconnect the pipe if a face is not touching the inventory you expect.
- Combine Retrieve mode on the source side with a normal Insert pipe at the destination for clean, directional sorting.
