Combining Retrieve Mode With Filters and Redstone Control
Filtering What Gets Retrieved
Retrieve mode uses the same filter system as other Pipez pipe modes. Open the pipe GUI and place items, fluids, or a filter item into the filter slots to restrict what the pipe is allowed to pull. An empty filter means everything is retrieved. Use a whitelist to pull only specific ores, or a blacklist to skip junk items you want to leave in the source inventory.
Adding Redstone Control
Each pipe face can be
configured to respond to redstone. In the pipe GUI, set the redstone mode for the retrieve face so the pipe only pulls when the signal is high (or low, depending on your setup). This lets you build on-demand retrieval: a lever or button activates the pipe, it pulls a batch, and then stops.
Putting It Together
- Use a whitelist filter plus a redstone pulse to pull exactly one type of item when a machine finishes crafting.
- Use a blacklist to keep fuel or tools in a furnace while retrieving only the smelted output.
- Remember that filters and redstone settings are per-pipe, so different retrieve pipes on the same network can behave independently.
- Test with a small setup first: one source, one retrieve pipe, one destination, then scale up once the behavior matches what you expect.
