Ping Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I ping a block?
Aim at the block you want to mark and press your ping key (V by default, or F in older versions). A menu will appear with four marking options to choose from.
Why can't my teammate see my ping?
Pings only show to players within a certain range of you—if your teammate is too far away, they won't see it. Make sure both of you have the mod installed on your clients.
Can I ping through walls or from far away?
You can ping any block you can see, but the ping will only be visible to nearby teammates within the mod's range limit, regardless of obstacles between you.
What if someone on the server doesn't have the mod installed?
Players without the mod won't see your pings on their screen, but you can send a ping through chat instead, which will appear as a message for everyone to read.
Do I need the mod on the server?
Yes, the mod must be installed on the server (or the host's game in single-player worlds) and on every player's client for pings to work properly.
Can I change the ping key from V to something else?
Yes, you can rebind the ping key in your controls settings—look for the ping keybind option in your mod configuration or Minecraft controls menu.
How do I send a ping through chat?
Use the chat command or feature provided by the mod to send a ping message that all players can see, even those without the mod installed.
Will pings slow down my game or server?
Pings are lightweight and designed to have minimal performance impact, especially since they only render for nearby players to keep the HUD clean.
Can I ping multiple blocks at once?
You ping one block at a time by aiming and pressing your ping key, but you can quickly ping different blocks in succession to mark multiple locations.
What do the four marking options in the ping menu do?
The four options let you customize your ping with different visual styles or meanings—check the menu when you ping to see what each option highlights or communicates to your team.
