How to Make Custom Signs and Books with Cipher Symbols

Where the Font Applies

Because the mod registers the cipher as a font rather than a block or item, it works in every text field the game supports. That includes signs, written books, anvils for renaming, chat, and tooltips. You do not craft anything special — you simply type the cipher characters where you would normally type letters.

Writing on Signs

Place a sign and open its edit screen. Type your encoded text using the cipher symbols. Signs have limited space, so encode a short phrase or a single clue. If you want a decorative look, mix plain letters with cipher symbols to create a puzzle for visitors. Remember that players without the font will see missing-glyph boxes instead of the shapes.

Writing in Books

Use a book and quill for longer messages. Encode your text first, then paste or type it page by page. Books are ideal for multi-part puzzles because you can dedicate one page to the key and the rest to the encoded content. Keep a plaintext copy somewhere safe in case you need to re-encode later.

Consistency Check

Before sharing, preview your text to confirm every symbol displays correctly and no letters were skipped.
