Picker Upper Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I pick up blocks with this mod?
Simply look at a block in the pickUpBlocks list and left-click it like you normally would to break it—instead of breaking, it goes straight into your inventory. If you're already holding the same item, it automatically stacks.
Which blocks can I pick up by default?
The mod works with torches (all variants), redstone torches, soul torches, non-hanging lanterns, and soul lanterns out of the box. You can add more blocks by editing the server config file.
Do my friends need to install this mod to play on my server?
No—Picker Upper runs entirely on the server side, so players can join your world without downloading or installing anything themselves.
Can I pick up items from chests or furnaces?
No, the mod intentionally ignores blocks that hold items like chests, furnaces, and barrels to keep your stored items safe from accidental clicks.
How do I add custom blocks to the pickup list?
Open the server config file and add block names to the pickUpBlocks list using the format `minecraft:blockname`. You can also use block tags or add properties like `[hanging=false]` for specific variants.
Why can't I pick up hanging lanterns?
By default, only non-hanging lanterns are in the pickup list because hanging lanterns have the property `[hanging=true]`. You can add `minecraft:lantern[hanging=true]` to your config if you want to pick those up too.
Does this mod affect performance or server lag?
No, the mod is lightweight and runs on the server side only, so it has minimal impact on performance even in multiplayer worlds.
Can I use block tags instead of individual block names in the config?
Yes, you can use Minecraft block tags in the pickUpBlocks list to pick up entire groups of blocks at once, like `#minecraft:small_flowers` for all flower variants.
What happens if I try to pick up a block that's not on the list?
Nothing—the block will break normally as if the mod wasn't installed, since only blocks in the pickUpBlocks list are affected.
Can I pick up decorative blocks like flowers and mushrooms?
You can add them to your config using block tags like `#minecraft:flowers` or `#minecraft:small_mushrooms`, but they're not included by default—you'll need to edit the server config to enable them.
