Troubleshoot Mobs Not Receiving Names

Check If Naming Is Enabled for That Mob Type

Open your config file and verify that the mob type you're breeding has naming enabled. Look for its entry and confirm it's set to true or enabled.

Verify Mod Is Loaded

Confirm the mod is actually active in your game. Check your mod list in the launcher or in-game mod menu.

Ensure Mobs Are Babies

Pet Names Mod only names baby mobs when they spawn or are born. Adult mobs bred together produce babies; those babies should receive names. If you're breeding two adults and see no baby, breeding may have failed.

Reload Configuration

If you edited the config file, make sure you saved it and reloaded your world or restarted the game. Changes don't apply mid-session.

Check for Conflicts

Other mods that modify mob naming or spawning might interfere. Try disabling other mods temporarily to isolate the issue.

Verify Supported Mob

Confirm you're breeding a supported mob type: Wolves, Horses, Cats, Donkeys, or Llamas. Other mobs won't receive names from this mod.
