How to Stop Retyping Your Search Term Every Time You Open the Creative Inventory

What the mod changes

In vanilla creative mode, the search tab forgets your query the moment you switch to another tab or close the inventory. This mod keeps that query alive, so the next time you open the search tab your previous term is already sitting in the search box with the matching results shown.

Steps to make it work for you

1. Open your creative inventory and click into the search tab.

2. Type the term you care about — a block name, a partial word, or a mod ID fragment that matches the items you want.

3. Leave the search tab by clicking any other tab (Building Blocks, Redstone, etc.) or close the inventory entirely.

4. Reopen the inventory and click the search tab again. Your term should be restored automatically and the filtered results should appear without any typing.

Getting the most out of it

  • Use a single broad term you return to often (for example a wood type or a mod's namespace) so the restored search is immediately useful.
  • If you want a fresh search, just clear the box and type something new — the mod simply remembers the latest term you used.
  • Because the term persists across inventory closes, you can hop between building and searching repeatedly without losing your place.
