Persistent Inventory Search Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on the persistent search feature?
There is nothing to enable — the mod works automatically once installed. Just type a search term in the creative inventory search tab, and it will be remembered from then on.
Why does my search term come back after I clear it?
The mod restores your last saved query whenever you reopen the search tab, so clearing the box without leaving the tab can make it reappear. Delete the text and then close or switch away from the search tab to overwrite the saved term.
How do I permanently clear the saved search?
Empty the search field completely, then switch to another creative tab or close the inventory. The empty query is saved as your new last search, so it will not return.
Does it remember my search when I switch between creative tabs?
Yes. Moving to another tab and back keeps your query intact, so you can grab blocks from different categories without retyping.
Does the search persist after I close and reopen the inventory?
Yes, the term is restored the next time you open the search tab, including after closing the inventory entirely.
Does it work with modded blocks and items?
Yes, it saves whatever text you typed regardless of which mod the results come from, so searching for modded block names works the same way.
Is the search saved per world or globally?
The mod keeps a single saved search term rather than separate ones per world, so your last query follows you between worlds and servers.
Can I use it in survival mode or only creative?
It only affects the creative inventory search tab, since survival mode has no searchable inventory grid. In survival you will not notice any change.
Does this mod cause lag or performance problems?
No, it only stores and restores a short text string, so it has no meaningful impact on performance even with large modpacks.
Will it conflict with other inventory or search mods?
It generally coexists fine, but mods that overhaul the creative inventory or add their own search behavior may override or bypass the saved term. If your search stops persisting, test with those mods removed to confirm the conflict.
