Passive Endermen Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I open the Passive Endermen Mod settings?
Open the mod's config screen from the Mods list in-game, or edit the config file it generates in your instance's config folder. Changes made in the file usually need a game restart to apply.
Does this mod work on a server, or is it client-side only?
The behavior changes are enforced by the server, so it must be installed on the server for teleporting, block griefing, and aggression to actually stop for everyone. A client-only install will not change endermen behavior on a vanilla server.
Do I need to install it on both the client and the server?
For singleplayer, installing it once is enough. On multiplayer, install it on the server; clients can join without it, though installing it on both keeps config screens and any client-side options consistent.
Why are endermen still teleporting after I installed the mod?
The most common causes are a config that has teleporting re-enabled, the mod being installed only on the client while playing on a server, or another mod overriding enderman behavior. Check your config first, then confirm the mod is loaded on the side that controls the world.
Can I make endermen passive but still let them teleport?
Yes. The teleport, block-carrying, and aggression behaviors are separate options, so you can leave teleporting on while disabling pickup/placement and look-based attacks.
Will this mod stop endermen from despawning or make them stay in the Overworld?
No, it only changes teleporting, block interaction, and aggression. Normal spawning and despawning rules still apply, so endermen behave like regular mobs otherwise.
Does disabling teleporting break enderman farms or XP farms?
It can. Farms that rely on endermen teleporting into a kill chamber or being moved by teleportation may stop working, so re-enable teleporting or adjust the farm if you need it.
Why can't I pick up endermen with a name tag or keep them as pets?
This mod doesn't add taming or pet mechanics; it only makes endermen less disruptive. Name-tagged endermen still won't follow or obey you.
Will Passive Endermen Mod conflict with other mob or enderman mods?
It can conflict with mods that also rewrite enderman AI, teleportation, or block-griefing, since both may try to control the same behavior. If behavior seems inconsistent, test with only one such mod enabled at a time.
Does this mod hurt performance or cause lag?
It generally has little to no performance impact because it only toggles existing enderman behaviors rather than adding new entities or AI. Any lag you see is more likely from other mods or the number of loaded endermen.
