Particular Reforged Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to do anything to enable particle effects or do they start automatically?
Particle effects start automatically once the mod is installed—there's no crafting or activation required. All features like water splashes, fireflies, and leaf drifting will appear in your world right away.
Why aren't fireflies spawning in my world?
Fireflies only appear in warm biomes during dusk (the transition between day and night), and they spawn near flowers and tall grass. Make sure you're in the right biome at the right time, and that the area has vegetation for them to gather around.
Do water splash effects work the same for all mobs or just players?
Water splashes scale based on the size of whatever enters the water, so larger mobs create bigger splashes than smaller ones. Player splashes also vary depending on how far you fall before hitting water.
Can I see the mod's particle effects in caves without digging?
Yes—cave dust particles fill deep underground caverns automatically based on sunlight and depth, so you'll see them floating around as soon as you explore caves, even without mining.
What happens when I open a chest underwater?
Opening any submerged chest or barrel releases air bubbles that float upward. Ender Chests specifically release green bubbles, and if a chest sits on soul sand, it creates a continuous bubble stream.
Do modded trees from other mods get leaf particles too?
Yes—the mod includes built-in support for leaf particles from Traverse, Regions Unexplored, and Wilder Wild, so trees from those mods will drop drifting leaves just like vanilla trees.
Will this mod cause lag or performance issues?
Particle effects are generally lightweight, but performance depends on your system and how many particles are rendering at once. If you experience lag, try reducing your particle settings in Minecraft's video options.
Do raindrops and water drips create visible effects?
Yes—raindrops and water drips create gentle ripples on water surfaces, adding subtle visual detail to rainy weather and areas with water flow.
What other small particle details does this mod add?
The mod adds crumb particles when you eat cake, glowing visual drips under lava blocks, and realistic waterfall cascades where falling water enters deep source pools.
Do leaf particles actually affect gameplay or are they purely visual?
Leaf particles are purely visual and don't affect gameplay mechanics—they're just cosmetic details that make the world feel more alive and dynamic.
