How to Stop Trees from Leaving Floating Logs When You Chop Them
Understand Why Logs Float
Floating logs usually mean the mod did not recognize the tree as a valid tree. Panda's Falling Trees only collapses a tree when the block you break is a log and the connected leaves are part of the leaves tag. If the leaves are from a mod that does not register them in the tag, the mod treats the structure as unrelated blocks and only breaks the single log you hit. This is the most common reason players still see floating logs after installing the mod.
Fix the Tag or Config Entry
First, verify the tree uses vanilla-style logs and leaves. If it uses modded blocks, check whether those blocks are in the log and leaves tags. When they are missing, add them through the mod's config by entering the block registry names for both the log and the leaf block. Restart the game after saving the config. Then test on a fresh tree rather than a partially chopped one, because leftover floating logs from earlier attempts will not re-collapse on their own. Break the bottom log and watch whether the trunk falls. If the tree still floats, confirm you are breaking an actual log block and not a stripped log or wood block, since those may be handled differently. Once the tags or config entries are correct, newly chopped trees should collapse cleanly and leave no floating logs behind.
