How to Tell Which Biome a Village Variant Belongs To

Match the Build to the Biome

Overhauled Village adds many village variants, and each one is designed to blend into the biome it spawns in. The easiest way to identify which variant you're standing in is to look at the building materials and roof shapes: they echo the local wood, stone, and plant life. A village in a snowy biome uses cold-appropriate blocks and steep roofs, while a desert or savanna village uses warmer-toned materials and flatter designs.

Why This Matters for Exploration

Because the structures are biome-themed, you can predict roughly what a village will look like before you arrive. If you're hunting for a specific aesthetic to build near or to loot, pick a biome first and then use /locate to find the nearest village in that region. Pillager outposts follow the same logic — their design changes with the environment, so an outpost in a swamp won't look like one in badlands.

Keep in mind that terrain generation can place a structure near a biome border, so a village may sit partly in one biome and partly in another. If the materials look mixed, you're probably on a border.
