How to Read Stacked Health, Armor and Toughness Bars in Overflowing Bars

Understanding the stacking system

When your maximum health exceeds the vanilla ten hearts, Overflowing Bars stops drawing extra rows of hearts and instead stacks them. The bottom layer keeps the normal vanilla heart color, and any layer stacked on top of it is drawn in orange. A small number sits to the side of the bar telling you exactly how many layers are stacked, so you never have to guess your real total from the color alone. Armor works the same way: once your armor points go past the vanilla cap, the extra layer shows as light blue, and only as many armor icons as are actually needed get drawn, keeping the bar compact.

Reading toughness and the numbers

Armor toughness gets its own display sitting just above the food bar. It behaves like the armor bar and can be shifted to the left if you prefer it there. Watch the tiny side number rather than counting pixels: that number is the count of stacked layers, and the base color plus orange (health) or light blue (armor) tells you which layer you are looking at. If a bar looks like a single color with no number, you are still within vanilla range and nothing is stacked.

Practical tips

  • Glance at the side number first when your gear or buffs change, since that is the fastest read of your true total.
  • Treat orange as "extra health on top" and light blue as "extra armor on top" rather than as damage or status warnings.
  • If toughness overlaps something you need to see, move it to the left side.
