Finding Diamonds Efficiently with Ore Highlighting

Locating Diamond Ore Through Stone

OreXray Shaders makes diamond hunting straightforward by highlighting diamond ore blocks through solid stone and deepslate. When enabled, diamonds appear with a distinct visual marker that cuts through surrounding blocks, letting you spot them without strip-mining.

Mining Strategy

1. Descend to the right depth — Travel to Y-levels where diamonds commonly spawn (typically lower underground)

2. Look for the highlight color — Scan your surroundings; diamond ore will stand out visually through walls and floors

3. Mark locations — Once you spot highlighted diamonds, note their position or place torches to navigate back

4. Mine strategically — Dig toward the highlighted ore using your pickaxe. The shader shows you exactly where to tunnel

5. Collect efficiently — Since you can see ore through terrain, you avoid wasting time on empty tunnels

Tips

  • Combine this with strip-mining for maximum efficiency — the shader helps you prioritize which tunnels to dig
  • Multiple diamonds often cluster together; if you spot one, search the surrounding area for more highlighted blocks
  • The highlighting works through any solid block, so you can spot ore from caves, ravines, or adjacent tunnels
