Where Do the Drops Go When You Chain-Mine Ores?

Drops Land at the Block You Broke

When Ore Harvester breaks an entire cluster, every ore drop from every block in the chain is placed at the location of the block you originally mined — not scattered across each block's position. This is important for collection.

  • Stand near the block you are breaking so the drops land within reach.
  • If you break a block at the edge of a cluster, all drops still funnel to that one spot.
  • Items may pile up in a single stack if they are the same ore type.

Practical Tips for Collecting

Because all drops converge on one block position, you do not need to run around the cluster picking up scattered items. Walk to the block you mined and sweep up the pile.

If you are mining over a void, lava, or water, be careful: the drops appear at the broken block's location, so if that spot is dangerous, your items can be lost or destroyed. Break a block on solid, safe ground when possible.

Using a hopper or item collection system beneath the mined block can help automate pickup, since everything arrives at one point. This makes chain-mining especially efficient in strip mines or branch mines where you want a tidy collection point.
