Ore Harvester Mod FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I mine a whole ore cluster at once?
Crouch (hold sneak) and break one ore block in the cluster with your pickaxe. The entire connected cluster will break at once and all drops will appear at the block you mined.
Why isn't crouching breaking the whole cluster?
Make sure you're actually holding the sneak key while you break the block, and that the other ores are connected to the one you're mining. Ores separated by stone, dirt, or other non-ore blocks won't chain.
Do I have to crouch to use this mod?
Yes, crouching is what activates the chain-mining behavior. If you mine an ore normally without sneaking, only that single block breaks.
Which ores work with Ore Harvester?
Any ore that generates in clusters, including coal, iron, gold, diamond, redstone, lapis, emerald, copper, and modded ores that use similar cluster generation. The mod chains blocks of the same ore type together.
Does it work on modded ores?
In most cases yes, as long as the modded ore is registered like a normal ore block and generates in clusters. Some modded ores with special block properties may not chain correctly.
Where do the drops go when I chain-mine?
All drops from every block in the cluster are placed at the location of the block you originally broke. You don't need to chase items around the cluster.
Does Fortune work with chain mining?
Yes, Fortune applies to each block in the cluster individually, so you get the full benefit of your enchantment on every ore broken. This makes chain-mining with Fortune very efficient for rare ores.
Does Silk Touch work with chain mining?
Yes, Silk Touch applies to every block in the cluster, so you'll receive the ore blocks themselves instead of raw drops. This is useful for collecting ores for decoration or storage.
Can I chain-mine diagonally connected ores?
Yes, diagonally connected ore blocks are included in the chain as long as they're visible through an air block. Ores hidden behind solid blocks won't be broken.
Does Ore Harvester cause lag or performance issues?
Chain-mining a single cluster is lightweight and shouldn't cause noticeable lag. Performance can drop only if you somehow trigger very large chains, which is rare with normal ore generation.
