Troubleshooting: Why Isn't Ore Harvester Breaking My Whole Cluster?

Common Reasons the Chain Doesn't Trigger

If crouch-mining an ore is only breaking one block, check these causes:

  • You are not crouching. The mod only activates the cluster break while you hold sneak. Release sneak and it behaves like vanilla mining.
  • The ore is not actually part of a cluster. A single isolated ore block has nothing to chain to.
  • The neighboring ore blocks are not adjacent. Only blocks touching the cluster, including valid diagonal neighbors, are included. Ore separated by stone or other non-ore blocks will not chain.
  • Diagonal blocks are not visible through air. A diagonal ore block only chains if there is an air block between it and the cluster, letting the mod detect it. Fully buried diagonal ores are skipped.

Checking Your Setup

Make sure you are using a pickaxe appropriate for the ore — if the tool cannot mine the block at all, the chain will not start. Also confirm you are actually holding the sneak key rather than toggling it in a way your controls do not register.

If a cluster still refuses to break fully, try mining a block in the center of the cluster instead of the edge, so more neighbors are adjacent. Remember that the chain only spreads through connected ore blocks, so oddly shaped or broken-up clusters may leave a few stragglers you must mine separately.
