Ore Grids Resource Pack FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do I need to enable the resource pack or does it work automatically?
You need to activate the Ore Grids Resource Pack in your resource packs menu—it won't apply until you move it to your active packs list and select it. Once activated, the ore outlines will appear immediately on all ores in your world.
Will this work with modded ores or just vanilla ores?
Ore Grids is designed to add outlines to both vanilla and modded ores, making it useful across different mod setups. However, compatibility depends on how the mod textures are structured—most common ore mods work well with it.
Does the outline make ores look weird or too different from vanilla?
The outlines are subtle and designed to maintain the vanilla aesthetic while just adding clarity; they don't drastically change the ore appearance. The goal is improved visibility without making the game look heavily modified.
Can I use this with other resource packs at the same time?
Yes, but resource pack priority matters—place Ore Grids above other packs in your list if you want its outlines to take effect, or below if you prefer another pack's ore textures to override it. You may need to test the order to get your preferred look.
Does this resource pack affect performance or cause lag?
Resource packs have minimal performance impact since they only change textures, not game logic. Ore Grids should run smoothly even on lower-end systems.
Why can't I see the ore outlines on some blocks?
Make sure the resource pack is actually selected in your resource packs menu and ranked above conflicting packs. If you're using a shader or another texture pack that overrides ores, those may take priority over Ore Grids.
Does this work in the Nether and End, or just the Overworld?
Ore Grids applies to all ores across all dimensions, including Nether ores and End ores, so you'll benefit from the outlines everywhere you mine.
Will the outlines help me find rare ores like diamonds or ancient debris?
Yes—the outlines make all ores more visible, including rare ones, so you're less likely to miss valuable resources while strip mining or exploring. This is especially helpful in low-light caves where ores blend into stone.
Can I customize the outline color or thickness?
Ore Grids Resource Pack comes with a fixed outline style; customization options depend on whether the pack includes a configuration system, which most standard versions do not. You would need to edit the texture files directly if you want to change the appearance.
Does this resource pack work with Optifine or other optimization mods?
Ore Grids should work fine alongside Optifine and similar mods since it only modifies textures, not rendering code. Load it like any other resource pack and it will function normally.
