How to Reduce Memory Usage and Stop Out-of-Memory Crashes

What FerriteCore actually does

FerriteCore reduces how much memory the game uses for block states and models, which lowers your baseline RAM footprint. That means you can often run the same Render Distance with less allocated memory, or push Render Distance higher before hitting an out-of-memory crash. It does not raise your FPS directly — it buys you headroom.

Lowering memory pressure

1. Reduce Render Distance. This is the single biggest lever on memory use, because every loaded chunk holds block and entity data.

2. Reduce Simulation Distance as well; fewer ticking chunks means fewer live entities in memory.

3. Close background programs. The pack lowers the game's own usage, but your operating system and browser still compete for the same RAM.

4. If you use a large resource pack or many add-on mods, test with them disabled. They can add far more memory load than the optimization mods remove.

If you still crash

An out-of-memory crash usually means allocated memory is too low for your settings, not that the pack is broken. Either lower Render and Simulation Distance, or increase the memory allocated to the game in your launcher's Java settings. Do not allocate more than your system can spare — leaving too little for the OS causes different stutters. After changing allocation, fully restart the game so the new limit takes effect.
