Making Your Own OptiGUI Resource Pack for Custom Menus
OptiGUI reads GUI textures from a resource pack, so you can build your own pack to restyle containers, the inventory, or the HUD. Start from a working GUI pack and edit its images rather than building from scratch.
Setting Up the Pack
1. Create a folder with a pack.mcmeta file and a assets folder inside.
2. Copy the GUI image files you want to change from an existing pack or from the vanilla assets into the matching folder structure.
3. Edit the images in an image editor, keeping the same pixel dimensions and file names so the mod can find them.
4. Zip the folder, place it in resourcepacks, and enable it above other packs.
Testing Your Edits
- Open the exact screen your texture targets. If you edited the chest texture, open a chest, not the inventory.
- Keep a backup of the original images so you can compare when something looks wrong.
- If your texture does not appear, the file name or folder path is wrong, or another pack is overriding it.
OptiGUI's own format is more flexible than the OptiFine one, so you can target specific screens more precisely once the basics work.
