OptiGUI Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I get started with OptiGUI after installing it?
Drop a compatible GUI resource pack into your resourcepacks folder and enable it from the in-game resource pack menu. OptiGUI reads the pack's custom GUI files automatically, so no extra configuration is needed to see the new menus.
Do I need OptiFine installed for OptiGUI to work?
Where do I put OptiGUI resource packs?
Place them in the same resourcepacks folder you use for any other resource pack, then activate them from the resource pack screen. OptiGUI picks up both OptiFine-format GUI packs and its own format from there.
Why are my GUI textures not showing up after enabling a pack?
The most common causes are the pack being placed below another pack that overrides it, or the pack using a format OptiGUI does not recognize. Move the GUI pack to the top of the list and confirm it actually contains custom GUI files.
Can I use OptiGUI on a server, or does it need to be installed server-side?
OptiGUI is client-side only, so it works on any server without the server having the mod. Only you need it installed to see the custom GUIs.
Does OptiGUI work with other GUI or HUD mods?
It generally coexists with other client mods, but two mods trying to change the same GUI element can conflict. If a menu looks wrong, disable the other GUI-altering mod or pack and test again.
Will OptiGUI hurt my performance or FPS?
OptiGUI is written in Kotlin and designed to be lightweight, so it typically has little to no noticeable impact on performance. Any slowdown you see is more likely from the resource pack's texture resolution than the mod itself.
Can I make my own OptiGUI pack for custom menus?
Which resource packs work with OptiGUI?
Most packs made for OptiFine's custom GUI feature work, including popular container and HUD packs. If a pack only changes vanilla-style textures without custom GUI files, OptiGUI has nothing extra to apply.
Do I need to restart the game after changing GUI packs?
No restart is needed. Reloading resource packs from the resource pack screen applies the changes, though occasionally a full restart helps if a texture seems stuck.
