Fixing GUI Textures That Do Not Show Up in OptiGUI
When a pack loads but the menus still look vanilla, the problem is almost always pack order, pack format, or a conflicting pack. Work through these checks in order.
Check Pack Order and Conflicts
- Open Options → Resource Packs and confirm the GUI pack is selected and positioned above other packs.
- If you run a shader or HUD pack alongside it, that pack may be overwriting the same GUI files. Temporarily disable everything except the GUI pack and test.
- Some packs split their files between a base pack and an add-on. Both must be enabled, and the add-on usually goes above the base.
Check the Pack Itself
- Unzip the pack and look for a folder matching the GUI layout the mod expects. If the pack only contains block or item textures, it is not a GUI pack.
- Packs made for OptiFine's custom GUI system are supported, but a pack using a completely different layout may not be.
- If the pack targets a specific screen (chest, inventory, HUD) and you are testing a different screen, nothing will appear to change.
After any change, leave and re-enter the world or reload resources so the GUI textures rebuild.
