Using OptiFine Features in a Fabric World: Zoom, Fullbright and Connected Textures

Controls you should bind first

Open Options → Controls and look for the OptiFine key bindings. Bind Zoom to a mouse button or a key you can hold comfortably, and bind the Fullbright toggle if you want a night-vision style effect without commands. Zoom works like a spyglass but is instant and adjustable — while zoomed, scroll to change the magnification level.

Turning on visual features

Open Options → Video Settings → Quality. Here you will find toggles for Connected Textures, Natural Textures, Custom Entity Models, and Random Entities. Connected Textures makes glass, bookshelves, and similar blocks join seamlessly; it needs a resource pack that supplies the connected texture files, so install one before expecting a change. Custom Entity Models and Random Entities likewise require packs that ship the relevant model or texture variants — the toggles only enable the feature, they do not add content.

Emissive textures (blocks and mobs that glow) also come from resource packs. If a pack advertises glowing eyes or lit lamps, enable the matching option and reload with F3 + T rather than restarting the game. Test changes in a flat creative world so you can see the effect immediately.
