How to Forceload Chunks So Farms Keep Running Offline

What Forceloading Does

Normally a chunk only ticks — crops grow, furnaces smelt, mobs spawn — while a player is nearby. Forceloading keeps a claimed chunk active even when nobody is around, which is how you keep an iron farm, mob farm, or chunk loader running overnight.

Forceloading a Claimed Chunk

Open the claims menu and find the forceload toggle for the chunk you want. You can only forceload chunks you have claimed, and there is a separate forceload budget limiting how many you can keep active — this is deliberate, because every forceloaded chunk costs server performance. If the toggle is greyed out, you have either not claimed the chunk or run out of forceload allowance. Server admins can raise the limit per player or per rank.

Practical Tips

Forceload only what you actually need. A single chunk is usually enough for a farm; forceloading large areas will lag the server and may get you warned by staff. Remember that forceloaded chunks still obey claim permissions, so your farm is protected while it runs. If your farm stops producing while you are offline, first confirm the chunk is still forceloaded — a server restart or an admin change can clear forceloads.
