Adjusting Shadow Intensity and Quality
Access Shader Settings
Open the Shader Options menu by pressing the designated key (usually found in Video Settings > Shaders). Look for the Only Shadows Shaders configuration panel.
Configure Shadow Parameters
You'll find sliders controlling shadow depth and softness. Increase shadow intensity if you want darker, more pronounced shadows across terrain and structures. Decrease it if shadows feel too harsh or unrealistic for your preference.
Adjust shadow distance to control how far shadows render from your position. Lower distances improve performance on weaker systems, while higher distances create more immersive lighting across larger areas.
Fine-Tune Ambient Occlusion
Locate the ambient occlusion strength setting. This controls how darkened block corners and crevices appear. Higher values create more dramatic depth in tight spaces like caves and under overhangs. Lower values maintain a brighter, more open feel.
Apply and Test
Save your changes and walk through different environments—caves, forests, and open plains—to see how shadows and occlusion interact with various terrain types. Adjust further based on your visual preference and performance.
