Prevent Items from Falling Off the Chunk Edge
Understanding the Boundary
Your chunk is a 16×16 block area with a hard edge. Any item that reaches the boundary will fall into the void and be lost forever. This makes resource management critical.
Setup a Containment Strategy
Build a wall or barrier around your work area, leaving at least one block of space between your activity zone and the chunk edge. This buffer prevents accidental item loss when you're breaking blocks or moving quickly.
When breaking wood or mining stone, position yourself so falling blocks land toward the center of your chunk. Break blocks from the top down and work methodically rather than frantically.
Use Chests Early
Craft a chest as soon as possible and place it in a central, safe location. Store valuable items immediately after gathering them instead of carrying them near edges. This reduces the risk of losing items if you take knockback from mobs or accidentally walk too far.
Consider building a raised platform in the middle of your chunk—this gives you a dedicated safe zone where items won't roll toward the boundary.
