Set Up Your First Base Without Running Out of Space
Plan Your Layout Before Building
With only 16×16 blocks, every placement matters. Before placing blocks, decide where your essential stations will go: crafting area, furnace, storage, and bed. Sketch a mental map or use the ground to mark zones with different block types.
Build Vertically to Save Space
Instead of spreading out horizontally, stack your structures upward. Place your crafting table and furnace on one pillar, storage chests on another, and your bed on a third. This keeps your footprint tiny while giving you room to work.
Reserve Mining Space
Don't build over your best mining access point. Dig a central shaft downward and keep it clear—this is your lifeline to stone and ores. Building around it wastes precious horizontal space you'll need later for farms and expansion.
Leave Room for Farms
Allocate a corner or edge for crop rows before you fill your chunk. Even a 4×4 area for wheat or other crops will sustain you long-term. Once your base is packed, adding farms becomes nearly impossible.
