OfflineLAN Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I turn off online mode for my LAN server?
Open the 'Open To LAN' menu in your world, then toggle the OfflineLAN option to OFF. The toggle is ON by default, so you must manually switch it to OFF for the mod to disable online-mode on your integrated server.
Why is my LAN server still requiring online mode?
Check that the OfflineLAN toggle in your 'Open To LAN' menu is set to OFF. If it's still ON (the default state), the mod won't take effect and your server will remain in online-mode.
Can I keep my LAN server in online mode if I want to?
Yes. Simply leave the OfflineLAN toggle set to ON in the 'Open To LAN' menu, and your server will continue operating in online-mode as normal.
Do I need to restart my server after toggling offline mode?
The toggle takes effect when you open the 'Open To LAN' menu, so you should close and reopen your LAN session for the change to apply properly.
Can I switch between online and offline mode without restarting?
You can toggle the setting in the 'Open To LAN' menu at any time, but you'll need to close and reopen your LAN session for each change to take full effect.
Will this mod work with mods that add custom servers?
This mod only affects integrated servers opened through the 'Open To LAN' menu. It does not modify dedicated servers or custom server implementations.
What happens if players try to join my offline LAN server with online-mode accounts?
When online-mode is disabled, the server will not verify player accounts with Mojang's authentication servers, allowing players to join regardless of their account status.
Does this mod affect single-player worlds?
No, this mod only affects servers opened to LAN through the 'Open To LAN' menu. Single-player worlds are unaffected.
Can I see the toggle if I don't have the mod installed?
No, the toggle only appears in the 'Open To LAN' menu when the mod is installed and active.
Does disabling online mode affect server performance?
Disabling online-mode removes the need for the server to contact authentication servers, which can slightly reduce network overhead, but performance impact is minimal either way.
