How to Make Fugu Rolls and Fugu Slices Safely

Catching the Pufferfish

Fugu Slice and Fugu Roll both start from pufferfish. Pufferfish are caught by fishing in ocean biomes — they are one of the three junk/treasure-adjacent catches alongside cod and salmon. Use a fishing rod with Luck of the Sea to improve your odds, and fish at night or during rain for faster bites. You can also find pufferfish in buckets if you catch one alive.

Processing Into Food

Raw pufferfish in vanilla Minecraft poison you. This mod turns them into proper dishes, but you still need to process them:

1. Fugu Slice is the basic cut — a single pufferfish processed at your cutting station.

2. Fugu Roll combines the slice with a wrapping ingredient (typically seaweed or kelp-based) into a handheld roll.

3. Both are edible once crafted. Check the Processes page for whether your version requires a cooking step after crafting or serves them raw.

Safety Notes

Do not eat raw pufferfish straight from your inventory expecting the mod to save you — the mod dishes are the safe versions. If a recipe output looks like plain pufferfish, you have not finished the chain. Fugu dishes are best used as a novelty food or a Nausea-resistant snack; they are not your main calorie source. Pair them with a Seagrass Salad for a full ocean-themed meal.
