Find Your First Island
Spawning and Initial Exploration
When you start a new Ocean Core world, you'll spawn on or near an island. Look around—you're surrounded by deep ocean. Your first priority is to secure your spawn island or find a larger one nearby.
Locating Islands
Islands in Ocean Core are scattered across the map rather than clustered. Swim or build a boat and explore in one direction for several hundred blocks. You'll encounter small islands, sometimes just a few blocks wide, and larger archipelagos with multiple landmasses close together.
Watch your hunger bar while swimming—it drains faster in water. Craft a boat early using wood from your spawn island to travel more efficiently and safely.
Choosing Where to Settle
Small islands work for temporary bases, but look for larger islands or groups of islands connected by shallow water. These give you more building space and easier access to resources. Islands use normal Minecraft biomes, so you might find forests, deserts, or beaches depending on your spawn location.
Once you've found a suitable island, gather wood and stone to establish a basic shelter before nightfall. The ocean provides no protection from mobs.
