Ocean Core Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I create a world with Ocean Core?
When creating a new world in single-player, select the world type dropdown menu and choose Ocean Core instead of Default. You can then adjust custom settings like island size and water depth before generating the world.
Can I use Ocean Core on an existing world?
Ocean Core works best on fresh worlds because it changes how terrain generates from the start. Using it on an already-generated world may cause unexpected results or chunk mismatches at borders.
What happens to the Nether and End?
The Nether and End dimensions remain completely unchanged and generate normally, so you can use them as usual for resources and exploration.
How do I find islands if I spawn in deep ocean?
Islands are scattered across the map, so you may need to swim or build a boat to reach land. Check the horizon for silhouettes, or craft a boat and explore systematically in one direction until you find an island.
Can I change island size and spacing after world creation?
Custom settings are configured when you first create the world. You cannot adjust them mid-game, so plan your preferences before generating.
Do biomes work normally on the islands?
Yes, the islands use standard Minecraft biomes, so you'll find forests, deserts, jungles, and other familiar biome types scattered across the archipelagos.
Is Ocean Core compatible with other mods?
Ocean Core should work with most mods, but world generation mods may conflict. Test compatibility by creating a small test world if you're unsure.
Why is my world generation slow or laggy?
Generating a large ocean world takes time because the mod creates vast water areas. This is normal on first load; performance improves once chunks are generated and cached.
Can I disable water at sea level or reduce ocean depth?
Yes, the custom settings menu lets you adjust water depth when creating your world, allowing you to make shallower oceans or customize the water level.
What's the best strategy for long-term survival?
Secure your first island for basic resources, then build bridges or use boats to connect nearby islands and expand your base. The Nether remains a reliable source for rare materials when you need them.
