Nutritious Milk Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I make milk actually feed me in this mod?
Just drink a milk bucket the same way you always have — the mod changes the vanilla milk behavior itself, so no crafting or extra steps are needed. As long as the mod is installed, any milk bucket you drink will restore hunger and saturation in addition to clearing effects.
Does drinking milk still remove negative status effects like poison?
Yes, the vanilla effect-clearing behavior is kept intact. The mod only adds hunger and saturation restoration on top of it, so milk remains your go-to cure for poison, wither, and similar debuffs.
How much hunger does a bucket of milk restore by default?
By default the mod sets hungerLevelIncrease to 10, which is more than a steak. You can change this in the config to anything from 0 to 20 if you want milk to be weaker or stronger.
How much saturation does milk give by default?
The default saturationLevelIncrease is 10.0, which is close to steak's saturation. The config allows values between 0 and 20.0, so you can tune it to fit your pack's food balance.
Where do I change the hunger and saturation values?
Open the mod's config file and edit hungerLevelIncrease and saturationLevelIncrease. The config is generated on first launch, so if you don't see it, run the game once with the mod installed and then look in your config folder.
Will this work with milk from other mods, like milk from a modded cow?
Yes, the mod is designed to work with modded milk buckets too, not just the vanilla one. As long as the item is registered as a milk bucket, drinking it should trigger the enhanced nutrition.
Can I use milk as my main food source instead of steak or bread?
With default values, yes — milk restores more hunger than steak and comparable saturation, so it's a strong food source. Just remember it still clears your status effects, which can be a downside if you're relying on a buff.
Why isn't my milk restoring hunger after I installed the mod?
Make sure you're drinking from a bucket and not a modded milk container that isn't tagged as a milk bucket. Also check your config — if hungerLevelIncrease is set to 0, milk won't restore any hunger.
Does drinking milk remove my positive effects too?
Yes, vanilla milk clears all status effects, including beneficial ones like Strength or Regeneration. The mod doesn't change that, so drink milk carefully when you have buffs you want to keep.
Will this mod cause lag or conflict with other food mods?
No, it's a lightweight change to milk behavior and doesn't add new items or world generation, so performance impact is negligible. Conflicts are unlikely unless another mod also overrides milk drinking, in which case only one behavior will apply.
