Observe and Photograph Moving Shadows
Find an Open Area
Choose a location with clear sky visibility and varied terrain—a hilltop, open field, or flat plain works best. Avoid dense forests initially, as shadows are easier to track in open spaces.
Watch Shadow Movement
Stand still or move slowly and observe shadows cast by blocks, trees, and terrain. As time passes in-game, shadows shift direction and length as the sun travels across the sky. This creates a dynamic, realistic lighting environment that changes throughout the day-night cycle.
Photograph Key Moments
Use F2 (default screenshot key) to capture shadows at different times:
- Morning – long shadows pointing west
- Noon – short shadows directly below objects
- Evening – long shadows pointing east
Adjust Viewing Angle
Move around your subject to see how shadows fall from different perspectives. Shadows become more pronounced on surfaces facing away from the sun.
Compare Day and Night
Return to the same location at night to see how shadow behavior changes. The shader handles both daylight and moonlit shadows, creating visual variety throughout your gameplay.
