Nova Reimagined Shaders FAQ

10 questions players actually ask, answered.

How do I turn on cel-shading?
Open the shader settings menu (usually Shift + O or through your shader options), then look for the Cel-Shading section and enable it. You can adjust the outline thickness and shading intensity to match your preferred art style.
Why does my snow look weird or not appear at all?
Surface snow requires the shader's snow system to be enabled in settings and works best on top of full blocks. Make sure you're not in a biome where snow naturally doesn't fall, and check that your shader settings aren't set to disable custom surfaces.
Can I use this with other shader packs?
No, Nova Reimagined Shaders is built on the Complementary Reimagined base pack and cannot be stacked with other shaders. You can only use one shader pack at a time in Minecraft.
My game is lagging. How do I make it run faster?
Go to shader settings and lower the quality preset (switch from High to Medium or Low), reduce shadow distance, disable cel-shading outlines, or turn off surface snow. Start with the lowest setting and increase until you find a balance between looks and performance.
Do the water and weather effects change throughout the day?
Yes, water reflections and weather appearance shift based on the time of day—morning, noon, sunset, and night all look different. This happens automatically; you don't need to adjust anything.
Why do my leaves and plants look like they're moving when I'm standing still?
That's the wind animation feature built into the shader, which makes foliage sway gently to add life to the world. You can disable it in the shader settings if you prefer static plants.
What's PBR and do I need to do anything special to use it?
PBR (Physically Based Rendering) lets resource packs add shiny, metallic, or bumpy textures to blocks. The shader supports it automatically—just use a resource pack that includes PBR textures and they'll display correctly without extra setup.
Can I use this on a low-end PC?
Yes, there's a Low-end graphics preset in the settings that reduces demanding effects like shadows and reflections. Start with this preset and gradually enable features to see what your computer can handle.
Why do some blocks look flat or have no shading?
If cel-shading is enabled, blocks should have outlines and shaded faces. If they don't, check that cel-shading is actually turned on in settings, or your resource pack might not be compatible with the shader's lighting system.
How do I get the fantasy drawing look everyone shows in screenshots?
Enable cel-shading with outlines, use a colorful resource pack, and set the shader to High quality to get rich colors and strong lighting contrast. The combination of cel-shading + surface snow + vibrant textures creates that fantasy art aesthetic.
