How to Get Map Holding and Shield Animations to Look Right

Maps in Both Hands

Not Enough Animations makes held maps render realistically, and other players can see the map you are holding. If you hold a map in each hand, both are displayed properly rather than one glitching or vanishing.

Steps:

1. Put a map in your main hand and another in your off-hand.

2. Switch to third-person view to confirm both maps render.

3. Have a friend look at you, or check from another player's perspective, to verify the maps are visible to them too.

Shield Grip

Vanilla sometimes makes the shield look like it floats away from the hand. This mod adjusts the shield so the handle sits closer to the end of the hand, making the grip look like you are actually holding it.

Steps:

1. Equip a shield in your main or off-hand.

2. Raise it to block and look at your character in third-person.

3. The shield should now sit naturally against the hand rather than hovering.

Notes

  • These are visual-only changes; blocking and map behavior work exactly as in vanilla.
  • No configuration is required. If the grip or map still looks wrong, check for conflicting animation or rendering mods.
