Deciding Whether to Use This Mod in a Modpack

What the Mod Actually Changes

This is a worldgen filter, not a content mod. It removes ruined portals from newly generated chunks and nothing else. There are no new items, blocks, or recipes, and no configuration screens to tune. If you were hoping to disable only the loot chests or only the lava, that is not what this does — it is all or nothing for the structure.

When It Makes Sense

Include it if your pack already provides Nether access through other means, if ruined portals clash with your pack's theme, or if you want a cleaner overworld without random obsidian frames. It is also useful for skyblock-style or heavily curated maps where a stray ruined portal would break the intended progression.

When to Skip It

Leave it out if your pack depends on ruined portals for early obsidian, gold, or a free Nether trip. Also skip it if your players enjoy the exploration value of finding them. Because the mod only affects new chunks, adding it mid-playthrough gives an inconsistent world, so decide before you generate terrain. If you are unsure, test in a fresh throwaway world first and confirm the structure is absent before committing it to your main pack.
