No Ruined Nether Portals Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
How do I stop ruined portals from generating in a new world?
Install the mod before creating the world, then generate it normally. Any chunk generated with the mod active will skip ruined portal placement entirely, so no extra configuration is needed.
Will this mod remove ruined portals that already exist in my world?
No. It only changes world generation, so portals in chunks that were already generated stay exactly where they are. You would need to remove those manually or regenerate the chunks.
Why do I still see ruined portals after installing the mod?
Those portals are in chunks that were generated before the mod was added. Only newly generated chunks are affected, so explore into fresh terrain to see the difference.
Does this mod work on a server?
Yes, but it must be installed on the server for it to affect world generation. If only the client has it, the server will still generate ruined portals normally.
Do players need the mod installed on their client to join a server running it?
No. Since it only changes world generation on the server side, vanilla clients can connect without issues. The mod does not add any blocks, items, or entities.
Will this mod break my existing world or cause corruption?
No. It only skips a structure during generation and does not modify existing terrain or save data. Your world remains compatible if you later remove the mod.
Does this mod affect other structures like villages, strongholds, or nether fortresses?
No. It targets ruined portals specifically and leaves all other structure generation untouched.
Can I use this mod together with other world generation or structure mods?
Yes, in most cases it works fine alongside other generation mods since it only removes one structure type. If another mod also modifies ruined portal generation, check load order or configs for conflicts.
Does this mod have a config file or in-game settings?
It is designed to work out of the box with no configuration required. If a config is present, it is minimal and only controls whether the mod is active.
Will this mod improve performance or reduce world size?
The impact is negligible since ruined portals are a small part of world generation. You may see a very slight reduction in generated structures, but do not expect a noticeable performance change.
