How to Stop the Red Warning Borders on Outdated Resource Packs

Why the Red Borders Appear

Minecraft marks a resource pack as "incompatible" when the pack format number it declares does not match the format your game version expects. The game then draws a red border around the pack's entry in the resource pack selection screen and refuses to apply it without a confirmation. This is a cosmetic and gating behavior, not a real incompatibility in most cases — packs usually still work fine.

Removing the Borders

1. Open the resource pack selection screen (Options → Resource Packs).

2. With the mod installed, the red outline around outdated packs is suppressed automatically. You should see the pack listed like any other pack, with no red frame.

3. Select the pack and move it to the "Selected" column as normal.

4. If a border still shows, confirm the mod is actually loaded — check the Mods list on the title screen and make sure it is present and enabled.

5. If you use multiple resource pack managers or a launcher profile that swaps mod folders, verify the mod is in the profile you are actually launching.

What Still Works Normally

The pack's contents are untouched. Textures, models, sounds, and language files load exactly as the pack author wrote them. The mod only changes how the game presents the pack in the UI — it does not patch, convert, or re-encode anything inside the pack.
