Setting Up Your Mining Operation

Planning Your Mine

With direct ore drops, you can optimize your mining setup differently than vanilla Minecraft. Since you won't need to smelt ore on-site, you can focus your base infrastructure elsewhere.

What You'll Need

1. Mining tools: Appropriate pickaxes for different ore types (stone, iron, diamond).

2. Storage: Bring enough inventory space or set up a chest system at your mine entrance.

3. Lighting: Torches or other light sources to prevent mob spawning.

4. Optional furnace: Only necessary if you venture into the Nether and mine Nether Gold Ore or Gilded Blackstone.

Mining Workflow

1. Explore and locate ore using standard mining techniques.

2. Mine the ore with your pickaxe—it drops finished material immediately.

3. Collect and store your materials.

4. Return to base without needing an intermediate smelting step.

Efficiency Gains

You can mine longer before returning to base since you're not carrying raw ore that needs processing. This data pack makes mining feel faster and more rewarding, letting you focus on exploration rather than furnace management.
