Mining Ore and Getting Direct Drops

How Direct Ore Drops Work

With this data pack installed, mining ore blocks no longer produces raw ore as an intermediate step. Instead, you'll receive the finished ore material directly into your inventory—just like in older Minecraft versions.

Mining Steps

1. Use the correct tool: Mine ore blocks with the appropriate tool for faster collection (pickaxe for most ores, for example).

2. Collect your ore: The ore will drop directly as a usable material—copper ore drops copper ingots, iron ore drops iron ingots, and so on.

3. No smelting needed: Unlike vanilla Minecraft, you skip the raw ore → smelting → ingot step entirely.

Important Exception

Nether Gold Ore and Gilded Blackstone still follow vanilla behavior and will drop their raw ore variants. You'll need to smelt these normally if you want the finished product.

Efficiency Tip

This streamlines your mining workflow significantly. You can go directly from mining to crafting without maintaining a furnace setup for ore conversion, making early-game progression faster and less tedious.
