Finding Meteors After Installing No More Craters

Locating Buried Meteors

With No More Craters installed, meteors no longer create visible impact craters. Instead, they're buried just below the surface or submerged underwater. This means you need to search differently than you would in vanilla AE2.

Search Strategy

Look for subtle terrain changes:

  • Walk along beaches and shallow water—meteors often settle underwater without disturbing the seafloor visibly
  • Scan flat plains and grasslands for small depressions or slightly sunken areas
  • Check near water bodies; meteors frequently end up partially submerged
  • Use night vision or brightness settings to spot faint texture differences in the ground

Dig strategically:

  • When you suspect a meteor location, dig down a few blocks—the meteor should be close to the surface
  • Listen for the distinctive meteor block sounds as you excavate
  • Meteors are typically found within 5-10 blocks of the surface

Use tools efficiently:

  • A pickaxe speeds up excavation significantly
  • Consider using a Fortune pickaxe to maximize drops from the meteor

Once you locate and mine the meteor, you'll collect the alien materials needed for Applied Energistics 2 progression without the landscape destruction.
