Heal Axolotls After Combat

Understand the Playing Dead Mechanic

When axolotls take damage from hostile mobs or other sources, they enter a "playing dead" state. During this time, they're vulnerable and won't actively defend themselves. This is your window to help them recover.

Prepare Water Buckets

Keep water buckets in your hotbar when exploring with axolotls. These are essential for healing. Craft them using a bucket and water source, or collect pre-filled buckets from your base.

Perform the Healing

When an axolotl is playing dead (lying on its side in the water), approach it and use a water bucket on it. This will restore its health and bring it back to an active state. The axolotl will resume normal behavior immediately.

Prevent Future Damage

While axolotls are useful underwater allies, they're still vulnerable to strong mobs. Keep them away from dangerous areas or ensure you have healing supplies nearby during exploration. Since they won't despawn, protecting them ensures you maintain your permanent companions for future adventures.
