No More Axolotl Despawns Mod FAQ
10 questions players actually ask, answered.
Do axolotls still despawn if I don't name them?
No — this mod prevents all axolotls from despawning automatically, whether named or not. You can keep axolotls without using a name tag.
How do I breed axolotls with this mod?
Feed two axolotls tropical fish (the same way you would in vanilla Minecraft), and they will breed and produce a baby axolotl. The mod doesn't change breeding mechanics, only prevents the parents from disappearing afterward.
What happens when an axolotl plays dead?
When an axolotl takes damage and plays dead, it becomes temporarily invulnerable and stops moving. Use a bucket of water on the axolotl to heal it and wake it up.
Can I take my axolotl out of water on land?
Yes, axolotls can survive on land for a limited time in vanilla Minecraft. This mod doesn't change that mechanic, so your axolotl will still need water eventually or it will take damage.
Does this mod work with other mods that change axolotl behavior?
This mod should work with most mods, but conflicts can occur if another mod also modifies axolotl despawning or behavior. Test your mod combination in a test world first.
Do I need to do anything special to activate the mod after installing it?
The mod works automatically once installed — axolotls will stop despawning right away. No commands or setup steps are required.
Will my existing axolotls that already despawned come back?
No, axolotls that have already despawned are gone. The mod only prevents despawning going forward for axolotls that are currently in your world.
Can I keep axolotls in small tanks or do they need large spaces?
Axolotls don't have special space requirements in this mod — they follow vanilla Minecraft behavior. You can keep them in small tanks, though larger spaces give them more room to swim.
What Minecraft versions does this mod support?
This mod is compatible with Minecraft 1.20 and above. Check the mod's download page to confirm support for your specific version.
Do axolotls still need water to survive with this mod?
Yes, axolotls still require water just like in vanilla Minecraft. The mod only prevents despawning; it doesn't change their need for water or other survival mechanics.
