Fixing No Fog Not Working or Clashing With Shaders

Common Reasons It Stops Working

If fog is still visible after enabling No Fog, the usual culprits are:

  • Another resource pack sitting above it in the Selected list and re-adding fog textures.
  • Shaders or shader packs that render their own atmospheric fog independently of resource packs.
  • Mods that add fog (weather, biome, or dimension mods) and override the pack.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

1. Open Options → Resource Packs and drag No Fog to the top of the Selected column.

2. If you use shaders, temporarily disable them and reload the world to confirm the pack works on its own.

3. Check your mod list for anything described as adding fog, mist, or atmosphere, and disable those one at a time.

4. Reload the world (or press F3+T to reload resources) after each change.

If It Still Fails

Some fog is controlled by the game's rendering rather than textures, so a resource pack cannot remove every type. If a specific fog effect persists, it is likely coming from a shader or mod rather than the pack itself. In that case, adjust the shader's fog settings or remove the conflicting mod. Keep No Fog at the top of your pack list as a baseline so it applies wherever it can.
